REGULAR CLASSES

Acroyoga is a discipline that combines yoga, acrobatics and Thai massage.
At BALEA we have 3 different levels:
AKROYOGA 0: 3-month module where we learn the basics of acroyoga little by little. Designed for people who have never done acroyoga and are interested in getting started in the practice.
*Registrations are not allowed in the middle of the 3 months.
AKROYOGA 1: Multilevel acroyoga classes, for people who have done some acroyoga before and want to continue learning. They have to have a minimum of knowledge to be able to attend these classes.
AKROYOGA 2: For those who have been practicing acroyoga for a while and have a very solid foundation. At this level we work in modules that last about a month. The topics of the modules can be general like flow, slackro, pops, icarians, standing, dance lifts… or more specific like hand to hand or foot to hand.
Yoga in movement, flowing to the rhythm of the breath. It is a dynamic practice that combines different asanas (postures) through fluid movement between them together with the rhythm of each person’s breathing.
Being a very physical style of yoga, it will help you tone your body and gain flexibility. You will also notice improvements in coordination, balance and concentration.
Perhaps in some session Valle will guide us through an Ashtanga yoga practice.
A more static type of yoga focused on finding the balance between the most active energy and relaxation, but it does not have to be a less intense practice.
It is very appropriate for people who have never done yoga or who have just started yoga, since a lot of attention is paid to the alignment of the body in each posture and to maintain it for a few breaths. Which helps to gradually integrate each posture.
Hatha yoga will also help you improve your physical condition, as well as improve your mental health by reducing anxiety, stress and fatigue.
This class is a fusion between yin yoga and restorative yoga. In it we seek a deep relaxation of mind and body through passive yoga postures and long stretches.
In yin yoga, the body and mind are worked on at a very deep level. The postures are maintained for between 2 and 5 minutes, with the help of accessories, reaching the deepest layers of the tissues with the stretching. This leads us to a state of deep relaxation by releasing unnecessary tension.
This class is perfect for those who need to regulate the anxiety and stress that day-to-day routines generate.
Discipline that combines dance and acrobatics and makes it accessible to all audiences. Come move your body while having fun!
The classes focus on learning the different movements within the Movement Flow system to then create small choreographies called flows (with or without music).
It tries to explore the body of each person at their own level and the movement that we can give it. Always from the game and exploration.
Handstands and inversions. Classes in which we will work the world upside down. We will prepare the body so that it is able to stay on a handstand and/or headstand.
Handstands are an intense discipline, but with time and dedication they can be very satisfying. Being able to balance your whole body on your hands makes us feel like we are capable of anything.
They will be multilevel classes, adapted to each person whether you have ever done a handstand in your life or not. Of course, come prepared to sweat a little…

Who teaches?

Rita has been practicing different sports at a competitive level since the age of 9, when she first took an interest in figure skating and discovered the magic of flowing. She found that magic again, when five years ago, she started practicing acroyoga, which she fell in love with immediately, thanks to the possibility to explore the grace of movement and the feeling of floating in the air. For Rita, the main potential of acroyoga is its capacity to connect two people whilst flowing, exiting your mental state for a moment and entering the so called “state of flow”, which is the union between being and doing, conscience and action.
Rita is a certified teacher of Yoga and Meditation 500 Hours TTC, Pilates, Reformer and Olit. She has been teaching for over 10 years and organizes acroyoga workshops in both Italy and Spain.
Hyperactive and enthusiastic child in his youth, Filippo was channeling his energy into different areas of movement, first with skateboarding and snowboarding, he met capoeira at the age of 17, falling in love with rhythm, freedom of expression and acrobatic physicality.
In 2012, his travels around the world led him to Zero Gravity in Milan, where he took part in the opening and launch of freestyle acrobatics activities, teaching children and adults. Nourished by his curiosity to learn about ‘the body in motion’, he graduated in Physical Education with top marks in 2016. He continued his path by specializing with a Master’s degree in Fitness and Personal training, with teacher training in Yoga 250hrs in Hatha-Vinyasa (2017) and Acroyoga 200hrs in Italy (2018).
After the Pandemics his desire for knowledge and necessity to deepen his knowledge brought him to Murcia in Spain, where he started his career in Physical Therapy at Ucam University. In the meantime organized various retreats and events in Italy and Spain focusing on Acroyoga, mobility, meditation and soft acrobatics.
Filippo’s main specialties other than Acroyoga are Inversion classes, Acrobatics and trampoline, mobility and physical preparation for action sports.
Filippo has taught cartwheels to more than five thousand people of different ages and levels, building a personal pedagogical-educational approach that draws on her own motor path and personal awareness.

BALEA TEACHERS
Kaixo! We are Aitor and Maialen, the people behind Balea!
We started practicing acroyoga on our own in 2017, in our living room at home when we were living abroad as a way to do a fun activity together. We started trying to decipher poses from photos that we saw on the internet, trying to get to them however we could… A few months later when we returned to the Basque Country, we started going to classes and workshops that helped us understand the technique behind the things we had been trying for months without much idea. And how important is the technique and how easy it is when they explain it to you!!
In 2019 we decided to train as acroyoga teachers to help other people interested in the practice in its beginnings. Since then we have been giving regular classes, workshops and acroyoga and movement retreats whenever we have the opportunity.
Namaste, My name is Valle, and although I am from Vitoria, I have been enjoying life in the countryside for many years. Yoga came to me at the exact moment, and decided to accompany me until it became my philosophy of life. I share and teach this wonderful tool out of love and respect for our body. A practice adapted to each person, whatever their physical or emotional state, you will always be able to enjoy and feel everything that it can bring you and help you in your day-to-day life, on and off the mat.
I have trained in: Integral Hatha yoga, Prenatal Yoga, and Children’s Yoga from the Mahashakti School. Yinyoga from the Shiva&Shakti School. Aerial Yoga with Aerial Yoga.org. And the Certificate of Professionalism (Navarra).
This school year I will teach vinyasa yoga, restorative/yin yoga, and gentle yoga (+65) in Balea.
I’m Sandra. I was born in Bilbao in 1983. (Former) computer engineer, aikidoka, acroyogi, Shiatsu practicing therapist, passionate about life…
When I found acroyoga, it taught me to overcome my beliefs and my fears, I learned to say no and ask for what I need, to connect with my body in new ways that seemed incredible to me. I also found Thai massage, which taught me to work from humility and gratitude, and led me to a place where I could finally connect head and heart.
Regarding acroyoga, I have trained at the Acroyoga Montreal Teacher Training (level 1 and 2) and at the Acroyoga for Social Inclusion Training (Barcelona).
I will be teaching acroyoga classes in Balea and some other workshops during the year!
I started my practice with movement when I was 9 years old. I trained until I was 16 years old at the José Uruñuela Dance Conservatory in Gasteiz. Ballet gave me the discipline and body awareness that now helps me in the disciplines I practice, but my body has always asked me for more movement, more acrobatics. So much so that as a child when we went out for a walk I never walked, but instead walked the streets doing cartwheels. Little by little over the years I have been training in different disciplines (yoga, akroyoga, Movement Flow, Thai massage…) and practicing others on my own such as acrobatics, pole dance, aerial silcs and handstands.
Now in our new acroyoga and movement studio, BALEA, I teach these disciplines that I am passionate about with the hope of helping more people find their passion in movement.
Social Educator, Social Worker and Sexual and Emotional Educator by training. For years I have worked on different social intervention projects.
Like many, I started doing Yoga when we were in confinement in 2020. That same year I began a process of body therapy, thanks to which I delved deeper into expressive movement. During that process I began to realize the benefits of being connected to the body and movement. Little by little, I was able to downplay the importance of the result, to put aside the shame that being far from perfection could cause me and to enjoy the body in movement. Since then, I have wanted to continue pulling in that line.
In the process of developing that awareness, they opened BALEA, and here I had my first contact with Acro Yoga, starting in January 2022 with the Acro 0 module.
In the 2023-2024 academic year I decided to train in Vinyasa and Hatha Yoga at the KintuYoga school. I also completed the Movement Flow training that Slava gave at BALEA in 2024.
In the coming months I will be teaching Movement Flow classes at BALEA and I will be Aitor’s assistant in the Acro0 and Acro1 classes.
